Quadrantid Shooting Stars
All shooting star fans may look forward to a long night at the beginning of the year: In the early morning hours of the 4th of January the Quadrantids reach their maximum! Along with the Perseids, the Leonids and the Geminids, they belong to the four most active shooting star showers. Up to 200 shooting stars per hour illuminate the night sky.
Every year between the first and fifth of January the meteors emerge from the constellation Bootes. That's why the shooting stars are also known as "Bootids". For observation it is best to leave the city and go to a place with low lights. Pay attention to the weather forecasts for your location, because clouds could prevent the view on the shooting stars.
